The New England Patriots pulled off the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history with an overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady named Super Bowl Most Valuable Player, after a historic comeback leading his team through a nail-biting game that tied in the final minute, heading into overtime for the first time in Super Bowl history.
It was a battle between the highest scoring team in the league, Atlanta, looking to win its first super bowl, and New England, the team that’s allowed the fewest points in the season.
Atlanta blew the game open late in the first half, entering half-time with a commanding lead 21-3.
Lady Gaga kicking off the half-time show diving down from the stadium rooftop to perform her hits “Poker Face” and “Born This Way,” an inclusion anthem.
However no loud political statement as many expected over U.S. President Donald Trump, women’s rights or immigration.
The Patriots then came alive in the fourth storming back from 28-3…
Brady went to work- completing 43 of 62 passes for a record-breaking 466 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
Forcing a 34-28 overtime win that stunned the Falcons after everything had gone their way.
With that victory, Brady becomes the first quarterback to win five Super Bowls, and at 39 years old, the second oldest quarterback to win the prize.
