A Chance Encounter Saves Teen From Needing to Walk 10 Miles to a Minimum Wage Job

One day eighteen-year-old Jhaqueil Reagan found himself trekking through snow and ice to a job interview. For many the weather may only be an inconvenience, but for Reagan it made the trip very cold, very long, and nearly impossible. The teen didn’t have a car nor did he have enough money for the bus so he had to walk the 10 miles from his house to the interview.

Luckily for him as he walked through the parking lot of a local restaurant he crossed paths with the owner. Reagan inquired how far away the address was that he needed to go to and the restaurant owner, Art Bouvier, told him it was about six to seven miles. Bouvier suggested he take the bus.

Despite the dangerous road Reagan would have to travel on, he did not heed Bouvier’s advice.

Teen Walks To Job Interview

Reagan didn’t take the bus. It wasn’t because he didn’t want to, it was because he couldn’t.

He didn’t have the money for it.

Teen Walks To Job Interview

Less than an hour after the chance encounter Bouvier was driving down the street when he spotted the teen still walking. Bouvier pulled over and offered Reagan a ride. The two got talking and it was brought to light that Reagan planned on walking 10 miles to an interview at a Dairy Queen for a minimum wage job.

Bouvier dropped Reagan off for his interview, but that wouldn’t be the last time they saw each other. Watch the video above to see how the two left off. Hint: Reagan doesn’t have to walk 10 miles to work anymore!
