A double-decker streetcar (tram) that overturned in Hong Kong’s Central district early morning on Thursday, April 6 injured 14 people.
The driver and passengers were stuck in the vehicle when firefighters arrived at the scene. After rescue efforts, 11 people were sent to the hospital while the other three declined medical care.
The driver, 23, said the streetcar collapsed after being hit by another vehicle on its rear left side; however, a passenger said there was no crash and police inspection found no dents on the rear-end of the vehicle.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. Latest reports from local media said the driver was released and due to report to investigators in May.
