At Trump-Xi meeting, a call for human rights

As President Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping meet in Palm Beach, Florida, this week, protesters are calling for them to talk about more than just trade and politics.

“I’ve come out here because it’s an opportunity to let people know that the Chinese government is very vicious towards an exercise system called Falun Gong,” said Gary Pansey, a Falun Gong practitioner.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been persecuting Falun Gong in China for nearly 18 years. The peaceful spiritual practice is based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance.

“People go to the park and do the exercises, and they can be arrested for this,” said Alan Smith, another Falun Gong practitioner.

Not only are they arrested, they are sent to labor camps, and even tortured to death.

This brutal persecution was started by ex-CCP-leader Jiang Zemin.

Falun Gong practitioners here want Trump to push Xi to end that persecution.

“Human rights issues are important, and he shouldn’t give in to trade, just sell out human rights for money,” said Pansey.
