President Trump and first lady Melania host White House Easter Egg Roll

It’s the biggest White House social event of the year—the annual Easter Egg Roll.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania greeted attendees on April 17. They were joined by their 11-year-old son Barron.

“This is the 139th Easter Egg Roll. Think of it—139. It began a long time ago—1878,” said Trump.

The president thanked the first lady for helping to organize the event.

“She’s really worked hard on this. She has been working on this for a long time to make it perfect, and we wanted to keep it just right,” he said.

“This is the first time that my husband and I are hosting this wonderful tradition, and it’s great that you are all with us today,” said Melania.

She wished the attendees a happy Easter.

After the remarks, the first couple joined the crowd for some Easter fun.

Around 21,000 children and adults attended the festivities.
