Vice President Pence arrives in Japan

Vice President Mike Pence landed in Tokyo on Tuesday, April 18 as part of his ten-day Asian tour.

Tensions are high in Asia due to North Korea’s belligerence.

Pence plans to meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to reassure Japan that the United States will support and protect its old ally.

The vice president will later talk with Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso to discuss and the economy.

Pence plans to spread the message that even though the United States has dropped out of the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact, the United States still has every desire to increase trade with its Asian partners.
