Cycling is the healthiest way to travel. It reduce the risk of an early death by 41 percent. Heart disease and cancer risks are reduced by almost half.
Dr. Andrew Coward spoke about the health advantages, “Cycling compared to other forms of exercise is more active, more dynamic. So, when you’re on a bike, you’re cycling up a hill, down a hill, you’re cycling quickly, you’re cycling slower, you get short of breath, your heart beats a bit faster. All those things are really important for disease prevention.”
Researchers at the University of Glasgow studied 264,337 people over five years. Research found a 45 percent lower cancer risk and 46 percent lower cardiovascular disease risk in people who biked to work. People who walked to work were also healthy, but not as much.
