Trump wants to ‘prevent and prosecute’ crimes against police

President Trump called on the Justice Department to find ways to “develop a strategy to better prevent and prosecute crimes of violence against federal, state, tribal, and local law enforcement officers,” at a ceremony in the Oval Office on may 15.

The president also signed a proclamation for Peace Officers Memorial Week and Police Week.

The number of officers shot in the line of duty increased by 50 percent from 2015 to 2016.

Trump said police officers have “had it with what’s going on.”
