No one knows how much it will cost the U.K. to leave the EU—yet.
The EU and the U.K. need to agree on what to count and how to count it first.
British MEP Nigel Farage said the U.K. could quit Brexit negotiations if it didn’t get proper treatment.
Farage was a driving force behind Brexit. He was also the leader of the far-right, anti-immigrant UKIP party.
Farage claimed the bill could be as high as $111 billion.
Chief EU Brexit Negotiator Michel Barnier has been fighting rumors by stating facts: that there can be no final reckoning until the U.K. and EU settle on accounting methods and an withdrawal date.
Negotiations are supposed to be right after the UK election on June 8.
“Our objective is to reach an agreement. The no-deal option, or a bad deal, is not my idea,” Barnier said.
“We want to reach an agreement and we want to reach an agreement with the United Kingdom, not against the United Kingdom.”
