Special counsel named to investigate Trump-Russia ties

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller will investigate possible collusion between President Trump’s 2016 campaign team and Russia. The U.S. Justice Department on May 17 appointed him as special counsel.

Mueller will also be tasked to look into alleged Russian interference in the U.S. election.

U.S. intelligence agencies claimed earlier this year that Russia interfered in the U.S. election.

Moscow has dismissed the allegations and the Trump team has denied any collusion with Russia.
