Teams race to finish line in Hong Kong’s largest Dragon Boat Race

Dragon boat races are held in Hong Kong every year during the Chinese Duanwu Festival, also called the Dragon Boat Festival.

On May 30, competitions were held all around Hong Kong in accordance with tradition.

One racing event by the South Coast of Hong Kong has a history of over 100 years. It’s also the largest in scale.

There were 35 races this year, with 62 teams.

On the sound of a gong, the teams paddled forward vigorously.

At the finishing line, they splash water on each other to celebrate. The splashing is also thought to bring about good luck and prosperity.

No matter win or lose, the teams are excited to participate.

“Anyone can participate. If you have a team, or a company, it’s a good way to experience teamwork,” said Calvin, team leader of Herbalife.
