Handmade animals help feed kids in Nepal

On April 25, 2015 and again on May 12, two devastating earthquakes hit Nepal, taking the lives of nearly 9,000 people and leaving hundreds of thousands without homes.

The blessing in the misfortune is that the April earthquake hit on a Saturday, the only day children in Nepal do not attend school.

Since then, people around the world have been trying to help. Some create long-term projects and instill the efforts into daily work.

Jami Saunders, co-founder of Kids of Kathmandu, noticed some beautiful knit pieces when she visited a local women’s center.

She then created a company called Oja Moon, producing hand made cashmere products for babies and lovely toys to benefit the women’s center of knitters.

As the same time, 10% of the sales will go to the local NYCDS orphanage. Their goal is to contribute $40,000 a year.
