Celine Tam wowed most of the judges on “America’s Got Talent” Tuesday (22 AUGUST 2017) when she sang “When you Believe” – a hit for Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.
The only one left unconvinced was Mel B, who said the song was “too big” for the 9 year old. The other three judges- Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel – showered Tam with praise.
Speaking on the red carpet after the event, Tam said the lyrics of the song, orignally written for animated musical “The Prince of Egypt,” represented how she was feeling about the competition, explaining why she chose the track.
“I like the choice of song because it’s about miracles and if you believe in yourself and have faith, you know, the miracle will come to you and that’s very important. And everything is positive and possible anyways,” she said.
She went on to say that she was incredibly proud of herself and her performance, as were her parents.
She added that she hopes to have every success in the competition:
“I hope I go far because I really want to go to the finals and of course win ‘America’s Got Talent’ but … Very focused, I really want to go to the semi-finals because, the semi-finals is amazing,” she smiled.
