Police in South Carolina Desperately Searching for Missing 4-Year-Old Girl

By Zack Stieber

Police officers in a South Carolina city are scouring the area for a missing 4-year-old girl, according to local reports.

Heidi Todd, the girl, hasn’t been seen for more than 12 hours, WSOC reported Wednesday morning, Feb. 14.

The little girl lives in the John’s Island neighborhood of Charleston.

A dive team and helicopter searched a lake in the neighborhood but no clues emerged.

Heidi disappeared just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

A neighborhood crew assisted police on Tuesday night, searching the immediate area.

The search was suspended at a certain point but was slated to start again at sunrise on Wednesday.

Officers said Heidi could be with a thin, Hispanic male between 25 and 30 years old who has short hair and is dressed in all gray, but didn’t indicate what relationship, if any, the man has to the girl.

The FBI has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to her discovery.

A host of crews, including firefighters and U.S. Coast Guard personnel, were combing other adjacent areas such as the Whitney Lakes neighborhood, looking for the girl, according to the Post and Courier.

A man who lives on Sugarberry Lane said that officials had knocked on his door three times already in their search.

Laura Hutcherson, who also lives nearby, told the Post and Courier, said that she, her husband, and her two-year-old daughter helped search for the missing girl.

“How do you sleep when there’s a 4-year-old missing?” she said.

A 24-hour tip line has been set up. Anyone with information is asked to call 843-619-6123.
