Dozens of people were arrested this week in Florida in a big operation that busted a heroin ring in Volusia County.
Deputies told WFTV that multiple search warrants ended with more than 21 arrests, including that of the ringleader.
“These peddlers of death are responsible for the overwhelming amount of heroin sold in Deltona,” Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said during the news conference. “Today wasn’t a good day to be a heroin dealer in Volusia County.”
Deputies seized 1.5 kilos of heroin and fentanyl.
“This equates to 15,000 doses of heroin that would have been sold on the streets of Deltona,” Chitwood said.
The investigation took around one year and included interviews with confidential sources, drug purchases, trash analysis, and surveillance.
