Here’s How Our Sun Will Eventually Die

A team of astronomers from England’s University of Manchester have figured out how our sun will die.

In about 5 billion years, they predict, the sun will expand into a massive ring of glowing interstellar gas and dust called a planetary nebula.

The team developed a new model to analyze existing data, and predicted that the sun will not burn out and become a brown dwarf as previously predicted.

The new analysis said the sun has enough mass to expand into a glowing gaseous orb.

The new model described within a very narrow range, how big a star had to be to form a planetary nebula—and our Sun is right at the lower limit.
