Bus Driver in Fatal New Jersey Crash Faces Charges

New Jersey bus driver Huddy Muldrow Sr. made his first court appearance in Morris County, New Jersey, on Friday to face charges of death by auto.

The 77-year-old bus driver was behind the wheel of a school bus when it collided with a dump truck on Route 80 last week, killing a 10-year-old student and a 51-year-old teacher.

According to a criminal complaint, Muldrow Sr. tried to make an illegal U-turn across three lanes of traffic after missing a turnoff when a dump truck hit his bus, severing it from the chassis.

After the accident, it came to light that Muldrow Sr. had had his driver’s license suspended 14 times, six of those for parking violations. He also had eight speeding tickets.

He faces two charges of vehicular homicide, and if convicted, could face up to 10 years in prison on each count.
