Several jet skiers were surprised when a pod of orcas began swimming and interacting with them while they traveled to Catalina Island.
A whale researcher says the encounter posed a serious danger to the whales.
They found the several orcas off Huntington Beach, California.
The trio approached the mammals at high speed, according to a researcher who was there observing the whales, KTLA reported. The expert said that the orcas were being overwhelmed in their natural habitat when the jet skiers approached them. “The whales were in danger,” an expert told KTLA.
The incident was captured on camera in 2017.
