Vivid Light Festival Marks 10th Birthday In Sydney

The iconic Sydney Opera House and other landmarks burst forth with vibrant colour and effervescence as the annual Vivid Light Festival celebrated its 10th birthday on Friday, May 25.

Visitors were urged to “enter a world of childish delight” as the famous sails of the Opera House were projected with imagery inspired by the Australian environment and the harbour was bathed in laser lighting.

The facade of Customs House was illuminated with the iconic Australian children’s book characters Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, celebrating 100 years since the release of the book by author and illustrator May Gibbs.

The 23-night event features more than 90 light installations across Sydney. According to organisers, the 2017 Vivid Sydney festival attracted a record 2.33 million viewers.
