Caroline from Melbourne may have the longest legs in the world (and most certainly the longest in her home of Australia). She is very proud of her height, and now hopes to covet a new world record.
A former leg model, Caroline Arthur is hoping to claim the Guinness Book title for the world’s longest legs. This mother of two from Melbourne, towers above the crowd when she and her friends or family are out and about, garnering stares and astonishment. At a height of 6’2”, she and her husband Cameron are both about the same height, but as he explained, “when we stand next to each other, her hip is much higher than mine.” Caroline’s legs measure an astounding 51.5 inches, claiming 69% of her overall height.

“I believe that they are definitely the longest in Australia and, as far as I know, in America too”, she told Barcroft TV. “The lady in the Guinness Book of World Records (Russia’s Svetlana Pankratova) has legs that are 51.9 inches long so it’s quite close.”
Caroline, hopes to take the title on the basis of a technicality. She said, ‘[b]ecause it’s so close I think it is worth contacting them and finding out exactly where they measure from and getting an official, accurate measurement done.”
Ever since she was a young girl, Caroline has always had a hard time finding clothes that would fit her long, lean frame.
Now a 39-year-old dermotherapist, Caroline is proud of her height, but it was not always that way. She describes a time when she felt awkward, and insecure, as a teenager, “I definitely didn’t embrace my height and there was a real period where I didn’t feel beautiful or attractive at all,” she said. “I just wanted to be the same as everyone else”. At the age of 15, however, Caroline started modelling, and that instilled in her a sense of confidence and security.
“My legs featured in a lot of stocking commercials and things but I was also rejected from a lot of jobs because of my height,” she said. “I was told that I’m too tall for Australian beauty standards and couldn’t model clothes because they just wouldn’t fit me.”
“So as much as I did get work because of my long legs, I also got knocked back for the same reason.”
“I was pleased when she started modeling because it helped her to stand tall and not be stooped or trying to hide her height,” said Caroline’s mother Janet.
Ever since she was a young girl, Caroline has always had a hard time finding clothes that would fit her long, lean frame. Now, her mother-in-law often makes clothing especially for her. Her husband, a home-builder, also designed their home with 10-foot ceilings, and extra high kitchen counters especially to accommodate their towering family.
Both of her two children seem to have inherited Caroline’s height.
Both of her two children seem to have inherited Caroline’s height. Her 13-year-old son Cooper is already the same height as his mother, while her daughter Zoe is considered the “midget” of the family measuring only 5 foot, 9 inches. Yet, the former model towers above her mother Janet, who is only 5 foot, 3 inches.
“She is so striking. I love going out with her. I often walk a few paces behind because I love seeing the reactions on people’s faces as she walks by!” Caroline’s mother Janet said.
“She was always taller than all of her friends.
“I was pleased when she started modeling because it helped her to stand tall and not be stooped or trying to hide her height.
“I am so proud of her. She carries herself so well, is a lovely person, a great mother and a wonderful daughter.
“When I think that she might have the longest legs in the world, I feel incredibly proud,” Janet told Barcroft TV.

“My friends always have to be a bit prepared when they venture out with me because people do stare—especially if I’m dressed up in heels,” said Caroline.
Caroline doesn’t mind the attention she gets when she’s out either, but just the opposite, “[m]ostly, I enjoy it,” she said.
“My friends always have to be a bit prepared when they venture out with me because people do stare—especially if I’m dressed up in heels.
“I just know by now that if I’m going out with people in the evening, I’m going to get a lot of attention so I am sort of used to it.
“I have had a few people say nasty things but mostly it’s great and people are really nice.”
Both Cooper and Zoe are incredibly proud of their mom
Both Cooper and Zoe are incredibly proud of their mom as well, and they are thrilled by the prospect of their mother breaking the Guinness record.
“Mom looks like a giant,” said Zoe. “She’s like a human skyscraper. When we are out she towers above everybody else.
“I think that Mom looks really beautiful and I really aspire to look like her.”
Having lived and learned, Caroline has come to love her height, as well as her long legs. “I can honestly say now, as a 39-year-old woman, I’m the most secure in my own skin that I have ever been. I feel more beautiful than I ever have in my life… It takes time, and you go through stages, but now I definitely see my legs as a positive thing,” she told Barcroft TV.
