College teen ‘thrilled’ after getting package from mom—but was completely shocked after opening

This teen had just returned to his college campus from the holiday break when he received a package from his mother. He thought it was a package of essentials; however, he quickly realized the package was filled with something a little “dirtier.”

College is an amazing period in a teenager’s life—for many, it is the first taste of what adulthood might be like. It’s also, simultaneously, an exercise of extreme frugality. The days of a bountiful pantry and always-stocked refrigerator end the moment they set foot in their dorm room. Many college students live off of cheap, low-quality food, old clothes, and hand-me-down electronics for entertainment. Thus, they still rely heavily on their parents’ generosity when it comes to acquiring essential items.

Nineteen-year-old Connor Cox was enjoying the thrills of university life at Westminster College in Pennsylvania when he received a care package from his mother, Terri, in Leonardtown, Maryland.

“I was thrilled because it’s like Christmas when you get mail from family when you’re in college,” he told BuzzFeed News.

Connor enthusiastically tore through the package. After opening it, he believed its contents to be some sort of gift hidden under all the tissue paper. However, there was a little too much tissue paper, and his excitement quickly turned into disappointment upon realizing that the tissue paper inside was actually used—they were his used tissues!

Terri basically sent a package of trash that Connor didn’t take out during his holiday break visit. Connor had previously agreed with his mother that anytime he was home, he would do the household chores. Somehow, Connor became lax on this point.

“I guess I thought I could get away with it all and have her clean it up, but she showed me otherwise,” Connor confessed.

Terri’s package was a hilarious reminder that Connor is never exempt from housework.

“I have raised and taught Connor better than this, and his actions deserve consequences—even if they are humorous,” Terri said.

To make Connor’s situation just a little more embarrassing, his sister Mackenzie chimed in on Twitter:

“’Actually it was the trash you left on the floor.’ She was very proud of herself hahaha,” he revealed.

Hopefully, Connor learned a valuable lesson, because his mother is ready to teach again should his cleanliness ever stray from her standards.

“His room should be left the way it was when he came home for Christmas break, which I cleaned before he came home,” Terri warned.
