A mysterious condition makes this woman’s hand swell to the size of a football

There are a lot of rare and incurable diseases that baffle even the finest experts in the field of medicine. 

Afroza Begum, a Bangladeshi housewife, suffers from a mysterious medical condition that has seen her fingers and the palm of her right hand swell to giant proportions. The fingers are abnormally thick and her palm has swollen to the size of a football.

The condition has become so bad that she can barely lift her right arm and relies entirely on her left hand to carry out the day-to-day household chores. She has already visited numerous doctors in her village and after taking several X-rays, it was determined there was no problem with the bone. Instead, there was a problem with the flesh and doctors were clueless as to what caused this woman’s flesh to grow into a lump.

Mrs. Begum says that ever since she was born, she had a lump on the ring finger of her right. As she grew older, the lump eventually spread over the entire palm and fingers. Now she has begun suffering from blisters on her palm, which often burst and result in painful sores. In spite of all the pain and suffering, Afroza is an example of a classic housewife as she devoted her life to raising her children and supporting her husband.

Now that her children are grown up, Afroza feels its time to give some attention to herself. The doctors in her village have suggested that she take her case to advanced hospitals in Dhaka. However, Afroza says that she and her husband cannot afford the high medical costs. Her husband who is a tailor earns a meager $58 a month and wishes that somebody would come forward to sponsor the treatment.

Afroza yearns for a normal hand and hopes that by sharing her story online she will be able to get a treatment to cure her of this condition. She wants her hand to work and not be a useless piece of flesh.
