This ex-prisoner was on his way to an interview, but suddenly he jumps off the bus after seeing this

This man left home one morning with merely $1.75 in his pocket, and was en route to a much-needed job interview, but passed it up for something more important—saving another person’s life. His good deed earned him another three job offers.

Aaron Tucker, 32, from Connecticut, took a bus on the morning of July 12 to go to a job interview. “I got up around 5 o’clock in the morning because I was so excited for the interview,” he told NY Daily News.

However, when he woke up on the bus from a brief nap, he saw an overturned car on the road. “I looked up and saw a car flipped over right in front of the bus, so I ran to try to jump out of the bus,” Tucker said. He told the bus driver he wanted to help the driver in the car. “I said I was going to help him, and asked the driver if he was going to wait for me and he said, ‘No, I am going to leave you.’

Tucker was undeterred by the bus driver. “I saw a lot of smoke coming from the car and I just jumped off the bus and ran to the car,” he said.

He hurried up to the car and pulled the driver out. He even took off his shirt that he had borrowed to wear to the interview, and used it as a tourniquet to stop the driver’s head from bleeding.

Recalling the scene, Tucker said, “He kept shutting his eyes and I made sure he stayed awake. I told him to open his eyes, I said, ‘your family wants you.’”

“He was in pretty bad shape,” said Scott Luciani, previously an EMT, who also lent his hand to help. “We got him on the ground and stabilized him.”

The injured man was later sent to the hospital according to the Westport News, and locals are now hailing Tucker as a hero for his good deed, but he thinks otherwise.

“God put me there to be helpful,” he said to NY Daily News.

Tucker performed honorably, sacrificing his job interview to help another man in need. “It didn’t go through my head, because a job can come and go, but a life is only one time. The only thing running through my head is that person in the car could pass away and I could help him. I just want everybody to know it’s not about what people could do for me. It’s just about me saving his life,” he said.

Tucker previously served a 22-month sentence for a weapon charge, and is trying to get a job to support his almost 2-year-old son. “I’m determined to change my life,” said Tucker.

“I just want to support my son and his mother,” Tucker said. “I’m looking for any kind of job—construction worker, landscaper, restaurant worker. I’ll do a good job.”

Moreover, a member in the local community set up a GoFundMe page. “Aaron is the kind of man who should be celebrated,” stated Karin Dale of Westport, who created the page. Initially, Dale mentioned, “At the very least we’ll get enough money to buy you a new shirt.”

Little did they expect that a huge outpouring of support, over $49,000 by the end of the weekend, has since been raised to help Tucker and his child out in the meantime, whilst he finds a job.
