Giving trains an Indian theme, Singaporeans have a unique way of celebrating Diwali!

Diwali brings immense joy to each and everyone! This year, Diwali Diwali was celebrated grandly in different parts of the world. US President, Donald Trump and even Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau embraced the Indian culture respectfully. Singapore has come up with its own style of celebration that sets it apart from the rest of the world. The mesmerizing Diwali-themed train is surely a classic!

The people of Singapore began this tradition in 2016. Singapore’s famous Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) metro trains were yet again accessorised in a Diwali-themed style marking the festival of lights. On October 15th, they launched the first Diwali-themed train in the North-Eastern line.

Portraying various decorations like magnanimous elephant drawings, delicate jewellery designs and eye-catchy rangoli patterns, the train has got a new flavour this year.

Fascinatingly, the Singapore government took it to another level by decorating the buses in a Diwali-themed style too!

The roads were glowing with colourful lights and the two platforms of little India stations had amazing floral designs. Much to everyone’s surprise, they even had drawings of our national flower and bird—lotus and peacock as they believed it would bring them good luck.

Not just Singapore, even New York’s Times Square celebrates Diwali magnificently every year. It is a proud moment for India as other nations have begun to accept our traditional practices and culture.
