An unknown older man, wearing a shabby dress and flip-flops, walks into a bike store in Thailand. Everyone assumed that he could only afford to gaze at the prized bikes—but then, he stunned them all!
According to the Thailand newspaper, Sanook, a shabby-looking elderly man spent a good amount of time checking out a Harley Davidson bike, at the famous bike shop, Maxsingburibike, in Amphoe Khai Bang Rachan in the province of Sing Buri.
The people inside the shop assumed that this “odd looking” bike lover would not be carrying enough money and that he had come just for some window shopping. However, after carefully inspecting some of the bikes, the man proceeded to talk to the shop owner and even spent some minutes discussing the Harley Davidson bike.
Following his discussion with the owner, the man proceeded to do the unthinkable. He produced 600,000 baht (approx. $17,361) in hard cash to purchase the coveted bike, giving a big surprise and shock to the people present there.
Suddenly, this old man in his shabby clothes became quite a celebrity in the store. People rushed to take pictures of him with his new bike and posted them on Facebook. The store posted its own story on the Maxsingburibike Facebook page. However, the post was taken down after comments stirred up controversy and confusion about his identity.
Sanook reported that a Facebook comment was left by the man’s alleged sister, who claimed that he was not rich, but truly as simple as he appeared. According to her comment, he was a hardworking man, who had recently retired as a mechanic. His ultimate dream was to own a Harley Davidson, a dream he could fulfill after years of saving up money.
Eventually, this inspiring fellow went back to the store for some customization features of his bike. Earlier, he did not “dress well” for his dream, but this time, he entered with his latest biker look, a smile and cool sunglasses—he surely looked as trendy as his new Harley!
Indeed, he proved that it is never too late to chase a dream, no matter how the world sees you.
