Young lady texts wrong number asking for second opinion on her dress—she gets the best response

Not every wrong move you make should be counted as a mistake; you could view it as either learning, or in other cases—perhaps fate. The latter may hold true for a text message sent to the “wrong” number, which the unintended recipient in this story would most likely relate to.

Sydney Uselton was out dress shopping for an upcoming formal and had intended to ask her friend for a second opinion on the dress she was trying on, but accidentally sent the text to the “wrong” number.

Little did she know that the actual recipient was Tony Wood of Spring Hill, Tennessee.

“I decided, ‘Let’s make this person’s day.’ So I had the kids thumbs up her and told her she looked stunning in her dress. Now, all of the sudden, my kids are Twitter famous! Pretty cool!” Tony wrote in a March 9 Facebook post.

“Society puts a lot of pressure on these young women to have a certain look and a certain body build,” the father of six told MailOnline. “We try to teach our children to be themselves and not worry about what others think … Even with that, my young daughters already express a desire to ‘fit in’ and I figured this young lady might need that reassurance.”

So he set his kids up and took a photo of them all giving the thumbs up in approval of Sydney’s dress choice, and texted it right back to her.

“I figured that the children’s response would accomplish that substantially better than some middle-aged overweight bald guy!” he told Bored Panda.

Imagine the young lady’s reaction upon learning she’d texted the wrong person. Nevertheless, the response she received was appreciated, albeit hilarious.

Sydney’s friend Mandi Miller learned of the text message mixup and loved it. She took it to Twitter to share.

Not long after the tweet went out to the world, netizens wondered why Tony, who was a father of six, had taken this picture with only five of his kids.

It turns out that Tony’s son, 4-year-old Kaizler, who’s been diagnosed with leukemia, had been outside at a chemotherapy appointment.

“We still have about a little over a year worth of treatments to go,” explained Tony. “He really wanted to try going to Kindergarten, so we gave that a shot, but he was getting sick way too often and had several hospitalizations.”

When Mandi learned of Tony’s cancer-stricken son, she shared Wood’s GoFundMe page, which was set up to raise $10,000 to go towards Kaizler’s medical expenses.

Following this generous move, Tony’s initial goal was exceeded fivefold—amassing $55,635 by almost 2,000 well-wishers.

“That’s more than we had donated in total over the last 2 years,” Tony explained. “It’s been amazing and is a bigger blessing than anyone could ever know. We were backed up to a financial wall. I’ve been working the entire time, but I was slowly but surely succumbing to the financial rigors of the situation.”

Tony’s wife, Rachel, is also extremely grateful for the outpouring of support from total strangers.

“It is so refreshing to be reminded that there are good people in the world who still care about others and are quick to be generous and kind to others,” Rachel wrote.

“I would also like to thank EVERYONE from the bottom of my heart for all the kind words, all the prayers, all the donations, all the love and support. We honestly would never have been able to make it this far in our journey without every single one of you!!!”
