Canada Town Living in Peace With Grizzlies, Other Wildlife

For the past 20 years, people in Bow Valley, Canada, have lived harmoniously with grizzly bears and other wildlife.

To accommodate the wild animals, the town has added bear-proof trash cans and replaced attractants like fruit trees, reported National Geographic.

The town also built wildlife crossings over their highways, and provided education to the local populace on little things they can do to avoid encouraging negative behaviors from the animals.

The solutions have helped to manage local wildlife while keeping residents and visitors safe.

Bow Valley has become a tourist magnet, with many coming to see wildlife up close.

Assistance has been provided by Bear Conflict, which seeks to “engage local communities and educate residents about how to live, work and recreate safely in bear country within their communities.”
