Conor McGregor Is Rising In UFC Rankings Despite Not Fighting Since 2016

Conor McGregor is listed as third on the UFC pound-for-pound fighter list, tied with Stipe Miocic. This puts him above his previous forth-place ranking, and above lightweight championship belt holder Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is ninth on the list.

McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2016, when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to gain the lightweight championship belt. He has since had to give up the title due to UFC head Dana White putting it up for grabs in UFC 223.

During his hiatus from the UFC, he fought a highly publicized and extremely lucrative boxing match against Floyd Mayweather, in August 2017. The two are rumored to have a rematch coming up, but this time in the UFC octagon.
