Country music superstar Keith Urban paid a special visit to his “biggest fan” at hospital before taking the stage in Toledo, Ohio, last Thursday.
Ohio resident Marissa English, 25, is a huge Urban fan. Despite having bought tickets for Urban’s latest performance, she was unable to attend due to her deteriorating health. She suffers from cerebral palsy and severe scoliosis, and is succumbing to an inoperable brain cyst.
A few nurses at Mercy Health St. Vincent Hospital, where English is hospitalized, made it their mission to bring Urban to English, as the latter really wanted to meet “Mr. Hottie,” as she affectionately calls him.
“They started a social media blitz that just took off like crazy to get Keith’s attention,” the girl’s mom, Marlise Matthews, told TODAY.
“We knew how important it was to Marissa to be at that concert tonight and since she wasn’t able to we were hoping to try and find some way to have Keith make a connection with her,” nurse Jan Cassity said, reports WTOL.

Their wish was well and truly granted.
Urban dropped by to give English a private bedside performance.
Wow, where do I even begin? Yesterday was such an amazing day for our precious Marissa English! She got to meet “her…
“Mr. Hottie” held the 25-year-old’s hand and sang her favorite song, “Blue Ain’t Your Color.”
For nearly three weeks prior, English had been fighting for her life in ICU. This serenade, however, proved not only a dream come true, but therapeutic also.
“The visit was truly amazing,” Matthews added. “She calmed down so much while he was here.”
“Her heart rate dropped a lot, and her blood pressure was the best that it had been in days.”
According to English’s sister, her “entire face lit up, and she wanted to talk and sing and smile.” She added that “this was a wish of a lifetime come true.”
When it was showtime that evening, Urban gave a special mention to English, “who I truly think is my biggest fan,” he announced before the sold-out crowd.
“It was so emotional,” says Matthews, who attended the concert. “The whole venue broke out in applause … A lot of tears from everyone there.”
