2 trash collectors hear panicked cries from a plastic bag. Their hearts sank when they opened it

With her mighty little voice, this kitty cried for help after being tied up in a plastic bag and dumped in the garbage truck. Fortunately, two sanitation workers heard her loud cries.

The incident happened in Reading, Pennsylvania, in April 2017. The poor cat was found in a garbage truck, dumped in a trash bag, tied up well, and on top of that, doused with gasoline—the kitty was nearly crushed in the garbage truck. But luckily, when two sanitation workers started the process of crushing the trash, they heard loud noises coming from inside the truck.

They followed the cries and eventually dug out the plastic bag. Needless to say, both of them were shocked to find this little soul tied inside it. The cat was quickly handed over to the Humane Society of Berks County, where it was taken care of.

The shelter staff named the kitty “Miracle Maisy” and then transferred her over to a local veterinary hospital, Humane Veterinary Hospitals Reading.

“This is the worst animal cruelty case I’ve ever seen or experienced,” Chelsea Cappellano, a HSBC office coordinator, told MailOnline. “We are so thankful to these men and the trash company for bringing her in. Many people would turn a blind eye in this situation, but they were proactive in getting her the help she needs.”

“The technicians spent all day bathing and drying her,” said Dr. Kimya Davani. “The gas was so embedded in her fur that she wasn’t drying, and because of this her internal body temperature had dropped. We had to shave most of her body in order to get her temperature up again. She is also very underweight and suffering from skin sensitivity.”

Miraculously, Maisy started to recover and slowly regained her ideal weight with the passage of time. During that process, she wore a sweater to keep her body warm. Thanks to the care she obtained, Maisy slowly returned to her own self.

“You can start to see her normal personality coming out she’s very sweet she loved her head to be rubbed she likes chin rubs,” said Davani.

The shelter staff did a commendable job, and with their help, by the end of April, little Maisy also found her fur-ever home, WFMZ-TV reported.

Thankfully, we have kind people around who don’t hesitate taking pains to help these helpless creatures—but still, it’s unimaginable that someone can be as cruel as this to an innocent animal. All we can hope for is a little more compassion within us, so that when it’s needed, we waste no time to spread it around and share it with our fellow mates—it’s not really that hard to achieve, right?!
